cPanel WHM Admins, Plesk Obsidian is a great FREE Alternative. cPanel is without a doubt a great platform but is also the most costly. As a hobbyist, I was paying $39.00 for an Admin 5 domain license plus the host’s VPS server charges. Last month my hosting bill was $106.00. So I started looking for a GUI alternative to WHM and cPanel. I’m not comfortable using a terminal doing command line tasks. My host, Vultr has many applications that can be spun up in a short time. After looking through their applications list Plesk Obsidian was available. Before installing Plesk I did some research and decided to give the Obsidian web pro a try. Its license is $20.00 and worth trying at FREE for the first 30 days!

This is a fine piece of software that’s packed with features. When setting up my first domain (docsplace.org) after uploading an archive of my WordPress files and extracting the zip file I couldn’t find the Delete button. Plesk calls it remove, plus I’m 71 and blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other. This installation has been active for close to 2 weeks and the server itself is in Sweeden. I’m getting used to moving around in the control panel that’s unlike cPanel (a single interface). There’s a slew of features and I love it. Back in 2021, I did try Plesk which had a few problems, and went back to cPanel. Those glitches have been corrected in this version. Here’s my review of the Plesk Web Admin SE version.

Are you tired of paying sky-high high prices for WHM/cPanel licenses? It got too expensive for me a web hobbyist and political blogger. Check out Plesk. They have a FREE package and a pro that’s $20 per month. Have any questions leave a comment below or contact me here. It’s different (Coming from Switzerland) so it’ll take some time to get used to Plesk Obsidian. Here’s the updated change log .
