Starting off his speech Donald Trump asked for a moment of silence as he read off the names of the children and teachers who were killed in the Ulaede TX school shooting. He added speaking of school shooter Salvador Ramos, that while those he slaughtered are now with God in Heaven, he will be eternally damned to burn in the fires of hell. Trump spoke of overhauling our school security. [FidoSysop: As the old saying goes, when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns!] 🙁
The Texas Tribute reports: We need to drastically change our approach to mental health, Trump NRA 2022 said. All of us must unite, Republican and Democrat, in every state and at every level of government to finally harden our schools and protect our children. What we need now is a top-to-bottom security overhaul at schools all across our country. As part of that overhaul, Trump said buildings should have a “single” point of entry, strong fencing, and metal detectors. Every school also needs armed officers, and trained teachers should carry concealed weapons, Trump added.
Politico reported: The protesters who raised their middle fingers and shouted “shame” outside the National Rifle Association’s big gathering here on Friday had assumed like much of official Washington that the timing of a school shooting three days earlier might somehow be problematic for the NRA. For gun enthusiasts and the Republican politicians courting them, it was only more reason to come. Here, amid acres of guns and tactical gear inside a cavernous convention hall, the proximate cause of the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, was not a rifle, but mental illness, shadowy forces of evil, or, as one man in a Let’s Go Brandon T-shirt put it, the destruction of our children by the teachings of the left!
